Who We Are

Building Meaningful Relationships. Serving Others with Excellence. Creating Engaging Interior Environments.

Heritage began in 1977 with a simple commitment: serve people with integrity, deliver work with excellence, and build relationships that last.

What started as a small quick printing business has grown into Heritage Signs & Displays, a veteran-owned and family-led commercial sign company specializing in branded workplace interiors and event environments. Today, our Raleigh office proudly serves Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and the Research Triangle as an important part of Heritage’s regional growth.

The Triangle is an important chapter in the Heritage story. It is a region shaped by innovation, education, healthcare, technology, research, entrepreneurship, and steady growth. As organizations throughout the area continue to expand their workplaces, campuses, facilities, and public-facing environments, Heritage provides the experience, project management, production capability, and installation by Heritage team members needed to bring branded spaces to life.

Nearly five decades after our founding, our purpose remains the same: honor God by serving our clients, employees, vendors, and communities with excellence, integrity, and genuine care.

From Commercial Printing to Branded Workplace Interiors

Heritage’s story began in commercial printing, where deadlines, details, accuracy, and service mattered every day. That foundation shaped the way we still approach projects today.

Over time, many of the same organizations that trusted Heritage with their printed materials began asking us to help with larger visual branding needs. They needed signs, displays, graphics, and interior branding solutions that could communicate who they were, guide people through their spaces, recognize achievements, and create a stronger experience for everyone who entered their facilities.

Those opportunities helped Heritage grow from a printing company into a specialized provider of custom signs, environmental graphics, workplace branding, and event environment solutions. Beginning in 2009, that transition became a more intentional part of Heritage’s future. While our capabilities have changed, the discipline we learned in printing remains part of our culture: listen carefully, manage details, meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and do what we promised.

Veteran-Owned. Family-Led. Faith-Guided.

Heritage has always been shaped by people more than products.

Our leadership story includes military service, family ownership, faith, perseverance, and a long-term commitment to building a company that serves others well. Those influences continue to guide the way Heritage operates today.

As a veteran-led company, we value discipline, accountability, teamwork, preparation, and follow-through. Joe Gass joined Heritage in 1988 after completing six years of service in the United States Navy, and that experience helped shape his approach to leadership, responsibility, and service. As a family-led company, we believe relationships matter, culture matters, and long-term trust is more valuable than short-term gain.

As a company guided by faith and stewardship, we believe our work should reflect humility, integrity, and care for the people we serve. These values are not slogans. They influence how we lead our team, communicate with clients, resolve challenges, and approach every project entrusted to us.

Growing Alongside the Research Triangle

The Research Triangle has become one of Heritage’s most important markets and an important part of the company’s regional expansion.

Heritage’s presence in Raleigh grew between 2021 and 2023 as the company saw a meaningful opportunity to serve a region shaped by universities, healthcare systems, research organizations, technology companies, nonprofits, government agencies, and corporate workplaces. The Triangle’s continued growth created a strong need for branded interiors that are thoughtful, professional, and built to support long-term organizational goals.

Our Raleigh team was established to provide responsive local service for Triangle-area clients while connecting them to the broader resources of Heritage. Clients benefit from local project management, collaborative planning, in-house production, and installation by Heritage team members, supported by a regional company with nearly 50 years of experience.

Whether we are supporting a single workplace transformation or a larger organization with multiple facilities, our goal is to make the process organized, dependable, and effective from beginning to end.

Local Relationships. Regional Resources.

Heritage’s regional approach has grown from a simple belief: clients are best served when local relationships are supported by coordinated company-wide resources.

Our clients appreciate working with people who understand their market while benefiting from the experience, production capabilities, project management, and installation resources of a coordinated regional organization. Our headquarters in Charlotte supports company-wide leadership, production, administration, and operational strength. Our Raleigh office serves the Research Triangle with local responsiveness and market understanding. Our Washington, DC-area facilities support clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Additional Heritage offices throughout the region allow us to serve growing organizations with a balance of proximity, consistency, and accountability. Whether a project involves one office, several facilities across North Carolina, or locations extending from Maryland to the Carolinas, Heritage provides one coordinated team focused on delivering a dependable experience.

That regional approach has become one of the defining characteristics of Heritage. We are large enough to manage complex branding initiatives across multiple locations, yet personal enough to remain relationship-driven, accessible, and accountable to the clients we serve.

Built One Relationship at a Time

Heritage has never measured success only by revenue, locations, equipment, or completed projects.

We measure success by confidence earned over time.

Many of our strongest client relationships began with one project and grew over time because clients experienced a team that listened, followed through, solved problems, and cared about the outcome. That relationship-driven approach has allowed Heritage to grow steadily while continuing to invest in people, capabilities, technology, facilities, and leadership.

As our clients expanded, Heritage expanded with them. New offices, new capabilities, and new services were added not simply to become larger, but to serve organizations more effectively and responsibly.

That steady growth has shaped Heritage into a company capable of supporting local projects in the Research Triangle while also helping clients manage larger branding initiatives across multiple offices, campuses, facilities, and event environments.

More Than Signs and Graphics

The finished signs, displays, and graphics our clients see are only part of what Heritage delivers.

Behind every successful project is a team working to understand the client’s goals, space, culture, timeline, and vision. We believe successful branded environments begin with listening. From there, thoughtful planning, clear communication, careful production, and installation by Heritage team members help turn an idea into a finished environment that reflects the organization it serves.

Every organization has its own story, mission, audience, and priorities. Understanding those details allows us to recommend solutions that strengthen brand identity, improve navigation, celebrate history, recognize people, communicate values, and create spaces that feel intentional and meaningful.

That is why we approach each project as more than a transaction. We see it as an opportunity to serve, solve, create, and strengthen a relationship.

Looking Toward the Future

As Heritage approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027, we remain grateful for the clients, employees, families, vendors, and communities that have become part of our story.

We are continuing to invest in our people, strengthen our regional presence, expand our capabilities, and prepare the next generation of leadership to build upon the foundation established in 1977.

We are thankful for every organization that has trusted Heritage with its brand, workplace, facility, campus, or event environment. Your trust has shaped our story, and we look forward to continuing to serve with humility, care, and commitment for many years to come.
